Tips

One of the best things a homeowner can do is to educate themselves. While we can't help you with every aspect of your home, we will continue to build our tips section for items related to your septic and municipal sewer systems.

 effluent filter

Effluent Filter

Nova Scotia Department of Environment made it a new legislation that all new installs or malfunctioning system replacements are to be equipped with an effluent filter.
Here's why; this was a filter after 14 months of use after a new install. All the debris trapped in the filter would make its way to the distribution bed and cause premature failure of your septic system. Once a year, it's removed and rinsed off getting rid of all those smaller particles including hair, lint, grease and other similar items that can easily cause long term damage to your system.

Strange Growing Patterns

Evidence that will tell you it may be time for a new septic system. Typically, a patch of green healthy lawn in early spring before the rest of your lawn is beautiful may be an indication it's time to have The Septic Doctor check things out.
